day at the zoo

On Monday, we took a trip to the National Zoo.  The wind was blowing, which made it a little chilly, but overall it was a very nice day.  We saw:

Pandas

A sleeping leopard

Elephants!
By next year the new elephant house will be ready
and they'll have a wonderful home!

Turtles

A tiger - I think these are the prettiest of the great cats.

Lions

More lions

A smiling croc (or alligator - I can't remember!)

Jed had gotten his 2-month check-up that morning, which came complete with his first big round of vaccines.  He definitely needed a little acetaminophen in the middle of the afternoon, and when he wasn't fussing he was sleeping.  We'll just have to visit the zoo again when he's older!

Later that evening we had a lovely dinner at Outback Steakhouse to celebrate his Aunt Laura's birthday:

Jed loved seeing his Aunt Laura!  She was only able to stay for a couple of days, but we were so glad to have her here.  We let her help give Jed a bath, rock him when he was crying, get him dressed, and feed him a bottle.  She is now a baby expert!!!
