greenbelt lake

We've had some leftover bread from rehearsal the past week, so I wanted to take Jed to feed the ducks for Family Home Evening last Monday.  I asked some women from church for suggestions on where to feed ducks in the area, and someone suggested a small duck pond nearby.  Monday evening it started raining, and there was only one bird in the pond anyway (plus it was on the other side, behind some reeds that we couldn't get to).  So after a short walk, we got back in the car and drove home.

Friday we tried again, this time at Greenbelt Lake (another suggestion from a woman at church).  Rotisserie chickens are on sale at the grocery store on Fridays, so after packing some cheese, grapes, and food for Jed, we bought a chicken for dinner and had a picnic at the lake.  We did see a couple of ducks, but they were out in the middle of the lake and too far out for us to feed.  Even so, Jed enjoyed being outside (and attempting to eat the grass) and Scott and I enjoyed the nice weather (recently, more often than not the days have been cold and sometimes rainy).  Mostly, we just enjoyed spending time together as a family.

I guess duck-feeding wasn't meant to be this week.  We'll try again another day.
