"solids"

Jed had his first taste of solid food a couple weeks ago.  I use the word solid loosely - the food he consumed wasn't a gas and technically wasn't a liquid, but it was awfully close.  It's certainly not a significant part of his diet - and some days he doesn't get any at all - but the pediatrician said he was more than ready physically, so we gave it a go.  He seemed to really enjoy it!  He has no patience for baby food when he is tired, but other than that he thinks it's great.  We started him off with pears, and then a few days later tried sweet potatoes.  This morning he had apples.  I haven't given him the rice cereal we have yet, just because I imagine it must taste pretty boring.  So I will mix some rice cereal with something better-tasting soon - one of the purees that he's tried.

Jed is very interested in his baby food.  But interest and skill are not the same thing!!!

When Mama feeds him it's not as messy...

As when Daddy does it.

Here is a one-minute video of him enjoying some pears.  He is especially excited at the end of it!

I think next week we'll try steak.
