albrecht family summer reunion, days 5-6

We spent Tuesday at Mt Olympus, a water/theme park at the Wisconsin Dells.  Jed really enjoyed the small slides at the indoor water park, and even the medium-sized ones (which I went down with him).  His only trouble was when we would splash at the bottom and he would get water all over his face!  But he recovered more quickly than when he gets water on his face in the bathtub - the excitement of going down the slides seemed to help.  Laura, Dave and the girls had to leave shortly after lunch - they were spending the rest of the trip with Dave's family in Minnesota.  Laura tried to get Jed to say good-bye to her, but he had attached himself quite forcefully to Taylor - much to Taylor's great delight!

Once we parted ways, with  few of us older folk went on roller coasters while a couple adults and the little ones stayed at the kiddie area.  Leslie, Taylor, Sarah Ann, Jed and I left early so that Taylor could go to soccer practice, Sarah Ann could meet her teacher for this coming school year, and Jed could get to bed on time.  It was quite a fun day!

Wednesday we woke up and traveled to Nauvoo, IL - a 5-hour drive.  Nauvoo is important to our church's history, so I was excited to visit.  We arrived in the afternoon, and started out at the visitor's center, where we picked up our tickets for the show that evening, presented by the senior missionaries in Nauvoo.

We didn't have much time before we needed to eat dinner (in order to make the show on time), but we were able to see the schoolhouse, and spend about 30 minutes at "Pioneer Pastimes" - an area with a bunch of games that would have been played in Nauvoo in the 1840s.  There were also costumes pieces that the kids could try on, which they loved!

Jed was excited about this horse, until he realized that it doesn't actually rock!  He was very disappointed in it.

Jed loved these baby dolls, but clearly has a thing or two to learn about taking care of children.
Perhaps he should wait a few years before having his own.
